The Governor of Western Lakes State on Monday dismissed rumors about the shutdown of Rumbek town court.
John Deng Mamer says there is no document from his office regarding the closure of traditional court, Good News Radio reports.
He says he and Chairman of town court Dhalbeny Makuer Gol agreed to improve good service of town court by bringing the representatives of other counties of Western Lakes to build trust and peaceful co-existence among people.
Deng appeals to citizens of Lakes at large to stay in peace and end the suffering of children and women in the state.
Chairman of town court, Dhalbeny Makuer Gol admits that he received a letter from the office of Rumbek Municipality to stop activities of the court.
He acknowledges that there was a complaint presented to him, three years ago regarding the representation from other counties of Western Lakes.
Makuer appreciates the government of Western Lakes State for bringing peace to the people.
He calls upon those having untried cases in the court to be patient enough for the government to establish good system for the community.
Efforts to reach the Mayor of Rumbek Municipality to explain why the court was closed for comments were unsuccessful.
