The new commissioner of Yar County in Tonj State urges citizens to be united as one people of South Sudan.

John Aru Cikom Ayiei says unity among citizens of the county and its neighbours is the priority.

He explains that disarming civilians will reduce the criminal rates in the county and bring unity with their sisterly communities.

“I told my community to warmly stay well with the neighbouring communities and cooperate with the national forces deployed in the county. I also asked them to peacefully surrender their weapons to the government without violation”, Commissioner Aru urged his people.

Aru points out that the government will work hand in hand with local chiefs to make sure all suspects of criminals are brought to book.

“I need my people to cooperate with me and the government of the state, so that there will be no more clashes among them. I also ask chiefs and myself to search for the criminals who are killing people and looting cattle. I need these culprits to be brought to book”, said the Commissioner.

The commissioner advises the youth to avoid random movement with their cattle to neighbouring communities with no legal documents.

“I ask those youth, cattle keepers to stop random movement across neighbouring counties with their weapons and stop walking around with their cows without permission from the county authorities. So that we can control the escalation of cattle raiding and other unwanted behaviour or action” said Aru.

The official made the comments on Friday at Mabior Yar County headquarters during his reception ceremony.
